On my Trusty system, the card showed up as there but disabled - finding
it with lshw -c network allowed me to ifconfig up the device and truck
right on from there with no issues (though with a funny devicename -

When 1 install's OpenAL which was a resent upgrade it removes a program
called wine and after it is done installed if you try to reinstall Wine
it says its broken.
When ya remove Open-AL and reinstall Wine it wants to remove the entire
Ubuntu Desktop components that make it.

I've Tested this in Kernel Ubuntu 12.04 Latest in the
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
area and this may appear that it could of been an add on Feature thats
been removed between 12.04 and 14.04 maybe run test on every Ubuntu
version if necessary? to find when it got lost or removed

After suspending system by lid close X does not wake up. System is
running, I can switch to getty (e.g. ALT-F1) but going to X gives me

I haven't tried the patch, but it looks good to me.
Am I right that all kernels shipped with ubuntu like 3.13.0-32-generic
will get the UTS_UBUNTU_RELEASE_ABI set to the ubuntu version, in this
case 32 and the mainline kernels will get it set to 0.
