The 'solution' offered in Bug #1299499 worked, permitting my use of
OpenGL 2.0 or 1.2 again, although 3.0 still crashes KWin.
I don't know if the precurser cause of my reported bug was mesa and
libxkbcommon0 incompatibility with kernel's above 3.13.0-19, but adding
the PPA and updating / dist-upgr

Using today's phablet image on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus I observed that
one of the threads of ubuntuappmanager is polling every 500ms. I am
filing this bug in a vain attempt to try and reduce system wakeups and
hence reduce battery consumption.

On the Asus G750JH like many other Asus laptops have function keys to
control both the keyboard backlight led's ( Fn + F3, Fn + F4 working)
and the dimming of the lcd backlight. On mine they are Fn + F5 and Fn +
F6 which have no effect.

My setup is 4-head, using a Nvidia Quadro NVS 440 card (2 GPUs, 2 heads
apiece), others may have different setups but the common factor is
multiple heads across multiple GPUs.
