One day I got proxy clips to work, but after some upgrade I have
troubles I can not solve by my own
I use Ubuntu 11.04
Kde 7.4.2

Sleepless, it seems as if you pulled a bad version from git. This can
happen if the developers are in the middle of an update while you
pull.
I use git from 2012 01 08, and no problems with proxies.
If you get the absolutely latest git, and still have a problem, please
file a bug report with mant

I don?t compile myself from git I get it from sunab?s ppa.
I had the problem before and it is caused by wrong combinations of MLT,
freir and kdenlive but the possible combinations are endless. I have to
down grade some stuff and lock versions afterw

How do you remove the old software when you change versions?

I do not know on your distribution. Mine keeps track of every file
that gets installed, and removes the old files before installing new
ones.
It may not be a problem for you, as long as you install to exactly the
same locations as before.

Finally got it to work again by updating libavcodec-53
and changing proxy settings to
-f avi -acodec copy -vcodec mpeg2video -g 5 -r 25 -deinterlace -s
800x450 -b 6000K
