I've downloaded the latest appimage and I'm now running that. I've also unchecked the 'parallel processing' (experimental) option in rendering. I can't see these making a difference as the mp4 played fine before on my PC, so my feeling is it's not a kdenlive issue. It uploads to Vimeo, but then

I wonder if anyone can offer me any tips on good practice for rendering. I often capture gameplay from the Rouvy (rouvy.com) cycling simulator, perform some simple cutting, transitions and titles, then render for uploading to Vimeo. This usually works fine. I select the default MP4 option in kd
