I don't use KDE office normally due to the lack of good support for MS
formats. I have used both 32bit and 64bit openoffice without issue, built
from ports numerous times. I can even

is that I had this problem on AMD64 FreeBSD8 and have reported to NVIDIA.
The system would crash on log out of X. This was resolved by using an
older video card (still NVIDIA).

I just ran into the exact same error on the zziplib port. Alex made a
change to that port to not rebuild the manpages if xmlto is installed.
You could try removing xmlto and see what happens.

Eddy,
What phonon backend are you using? The 3 options I see are gstreamer,
vlc, and xine (and xine is depreciated). Make sure that in addition to
installing phonon that you install one of the backends.

One user has let us know that disabling "powerd" in rc.conf help with
some similar issues. Do you have that enabled on your box?

No powerd on this desktop workstation. Also, I think my xorg builds up
much slower than you had seen. After 24 hours, Xorg is at around .4%
cpu.
