Hello. I'm using non-KDE desktop, but would like to use KDE apps. Starting KDE
based apps throws out this error:

Yes dbus is running but not HAL. ps shows:
66343 - I0:00.00 dbus-launch --autolaunch .
66344 - Is 0:00.26 /usr/local/bin/dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid

I was able to get a backtrace for deskutils/silence after all

then: then/endif not found.
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

No, there's a misunderstanding there.
x11/kde4-runtime install made no difference
The baseapps (dolphin/konqueror) started working when built as WITH_DEBUG
which is not unusual,
