After some patchings (and thanks to the #kvirc guys who commited the changes
to SVN), now kvirc runs in fbsd.
This is devel version, so it has bugs, YMMV.
from the pkg-descr:

While compiling koffice:
-- wv2 depends on a modern iconv installation, supporting UNICODELITTLE and

This means no wv2 support is compiled in (msdoc)
The problem is in:

I added some debug
If you take out kbuildsycoca4 from /usr/local/kde4/env/xdg-env.sh KDE starts
faster for 10-15 secs
My boot was like 45 secs, with that line removed is 30.
kbuildsycoca4 in this file is not necessary, because is run by KDE at startup
anyways.
Can someone else confirm this actually speeds up KD

I'm setting up distcc for speeding compile times, but qt ports doesn't use the
compiler specified in make.conf .
As of now is not a big deal, it just adds a few hors compile (still would like
it distributed), but what about clang (didn't try with it)
Most other ports work with distributed comp
This is a headstart on the kdeutils 4.8* ports
maybe need to fix some descriptions, and the categories of the ports.
the dependencies in general are ok, maybe need to review the USE_KDE4= and
QT_COMPONENTS

This little patches fix the problems in kde-games without tweaking the sysctl
kern.ipc.shm_allow_removed
The problem is described here:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=164742
The patches are for x11-toolkits/qt4-gui , and for qt 4.8, in qt 4.7.4 shuould
be similar fix. YMMV.

This patches allow the build of multimedia/phonon-xine with the new
libxine-1.2.1
hopefully this will allow to mark the port as not-broken again.
Put the patches in $PORTS/multimedia/phonon-xine/files and build normally
Cheers!
PS.
I have installed the other 2 phonon backends, but xine wor
I had the same problem.. I deleted openldap-client-2.3 and installed
openldap-client-2.4, after that kde built fine (a couple of ports still
required 2.3, use libchk)
it seems there is no UPDATING entry.
and the kde ports looks for the same lib, so there is no warning that
2.3 is too old

Just did big ports update, which included kde (-> 3.5.6), and now some sound

After a little research, discovered that low bitrate ogg file doesn't play
anymore.
I'm tryng:

File plays fine in audacity
