Is that for logging in manually, but with no password? Or is it for
automatic logins with kdm? I have been trying to get the later working
for quite some

I enabled it in rc.conf, and I verified it's running.
But when I use Dolphin and go to Network Services, it claims mdnsd is not
running.
Does this not work for FreeBSD?

Ladies and Gentlemen
Thank you for support us about kde4 enviroment under FreeBSD. I
installed Kde4 using sysinstall facilities (I guess that this was done
using pre-compiled files installed by pkg_add) without problems.
However, I was trying to upgrade some Kde4 derivative packages

Hey,
I was curious about KDevelop 4. It is in Beta 7 and I wanted to try it but
there is not a port for it yet and I was wondering if it was coming soon.
I can try to build on my own without ports, but I will wait if a port is coming
anytime in the next few months.
Thanks,
Jared Barneck

That was a good first step but not quite enough. You need to ensure
*all* your ports are up to date, not just KDE. What you want to run is
"portupgrade -a".

KDevelop4 has been rather mature for a while now. I have been using it
at work (under Arch Linux) for the last half a year. It works very well
and is ready to replace KDevelop3 I would say.
