So, er, having got past my previous email by realising that I actually
didn't want kdepim since I wasn't going to use any of those apps (and
figured I could come back to them later), I rebuilt kde with
-DWITHOUT_KDEPIM. However, having kicked my box, it now crashes on
login:

it is for me, but, for example, selecting "phonon" playback in kmplayer-kde4
results in a crash (but i never tried that with qt 4.4)
