No, I don't get that. The Ctrl-A is completely swallowed up, it seems.
On the laptop, where Ctrl-A works, yes, I do get a ^A when I type
Ctrl-V Ctrl-A. But on the desktop, I don't. And of course, if I
do Ctrl-V Ctrl-A Ctrl-V
