2) Will not change to any profile that I choose

After changing 'System Settings/Regional & Language' to United Kingdom
the date appears to be formatted ok as dd/mm/ but when Thunderbird
is launched the date is formatted as mm/dd/.
I'm running the latest kde4.2.4 and thunderbird 2.0.0.21_1 from ports.

Taking part of other efforts of « maintaining sets of related ports » (I
will detail this bellow), I am interested in knowing how you handle the
KDE ports in order to have a good overview of how such projects are
