Reverting 2742e5b422a543645467107c1f7e71e9f931a3b4 alone does not help. Only in
conjunction with reverting 40c485f2a6e3231f2398055987c5497270644e51 too I get a
working wayland session again.

Yes, most probably this is a wayland issue further down the stack. Latte dock
works perfectly with X11 on the same system. It is a system with a nvidia
(proprietary) driver. I know this setup is highly experimental

With a fix in kwin for bug 437573, the behavior of latte is now more
consistent. The dock is always rendered in the foreground and visible. The
black box behind the dock stays though hiding any window in that area

Tested the merge request on my machine and I can confirm that it prevents the
EGL stream frame failures from happening. Started a couple of wayland sessions
with your fix and desktop + latte came up correctly each
