Sorry if I misunderstand your proposed solution, but it sounds like KConfigCore
will then need to make calls into KConfigGui, would require it to be linked
together and defeat the purpose of having them separate

buffer[i] = _fileMap[loc + i]; with i == 0

So, LMDB is failing with error MDB_BAD_TXN, with a message of "Transaction must
abort, has a child, or is invalid". Having got an debug version of Baloo
installed, it turns out this gets printed earlie
