Same here - also using Arch Linux.
Using the touchpad of the Laptop, I'am able to scroll horizontally. But not
with the mousewheel.

Compact view mode in the main view - just as the issue opener described.
In the other view modes, the content is aligned in a downward fashion, so
horizontal scrolling is not required.
