Ok then, I studied a bit and figured out that there are different versions of
GTK, I found out it's indeed an outdated version, I installed it with APT and
didn't realize it installed an ancient version.

After messing up my system beyond repair, I reinstalled. I used the latest 5.20

I discovered the variable that causes that weird behavior was set by this
