Gwenview used to use ~/.config/org.kde.gwenviewrc, but now it uses
~/.config/gwenviewrc (maybe a Gwenview, KDE or Ubuntu change).

I have this issue and I don't use MATE.
This issue occurs all the time in my system using Cinnamon.
I think it was present as well when I used Gnome (which I stopped using because
of the slowdowns that Gwenvie
