Seems definitely that adaptive sync is the issue, if I leave it automatic it
fails like reported, if I enable it (always) the screen immediately goes off,
if I disable it (never) everything seems to work so

XOAUTH2 does work for me.
However after a period of "idle" time I have to restart akonadi for sending
email to work.
