Upgrading to plasma 5.8 did not fix this for me.
I found an easy way to reproduce it though. With two monitors, put your
computer into suspend. Now, turn off one of the monitors and resume, then turn

FWIW, on my machine, I'd say this bug has significantly regressed. I used to
only very rarely have black screen issues. Now they are common. It is very
disappointing that this bug has been treated as such

One other data point: I swapped to LXQT using kwin as the window manager.
Everything was fine there, so this does not seem to be kwin related.
