Btw, the above is the same with the monitor plugged in since boot (not just
added later). Affected elements appear in random locations on the 2nd screen,

If I make the left, secondary, external screen primary - everything seems to
work as wanted. However, the laptop screen is closer to me, so it should be my

Interestingly, after toggling BACK to the internal laptop screen as primary,
things now appear there where they should: the taskbar is there, and so are all
of its popups/menus.

Re what I said about the mouse cursor always updating the highlight - this is
not _completely_ consistent as sometimes this doesn't work. It's kinda 50/50.

oh, should've said: for me this happens every time Konsole is closed: simply
open a window, do absolutely nothing, then close using your choice of "exit" or
the GUI button or the File menu. Each time, same result

Thanks again - good point - it does look to be v4 stuff in there. I nuked all 3
(-daniel, -root, and -kdm) dirs and only the former was recreated. After a

For me, some intervening update seems to have fixed this. Konsole hasn't been
updated since version "konsole:amd64 (15.08.2-1, 15.08.3-1)" on the 12th,
before I confirmed the bug, but now it does not crash on exit.
