Unfortunately, this issue persists with KWin 6.0.1 in Arch. In case it helps,
I've done some testing to try and isolate the issue.

I can't edit my comment; apologies for double posting. I discovered a simpler
way to test this issue: enable KWin's FPS monitor in Window Management ->
Desktop Effects.
