The latter behavior seems related to

always visible, the Application Dashboard still freezes.

Another update: Seems like any click on a panel causes a freeze; Actions such
as opening an application from a taskbar icon also freezes.

The Application Launcher and Application Menu seem to work just fine; However,
opening the Application Dashboard also causes any open Application Launcher to
stop working, possibly indicating that it's locking up all of
