I just noticed that also the notification widget is not loaded by the system
tray. (Same as with battery, I can add it manually to the panel.)

Yes to both:
* org.kde.Solid.PowerManagement is registered on the session bus
* X-Plasma-NotificationArea=true is in both, metadata.json and metadata.desktop
files, and the *Category is "Hardware"

Oh. Umm. Can you check whether the plasmoid desktop file has
"X-Plasma-NotificationArea=true" in it? This shoulds very odd.
