You may as well closeout this bug report, since it isn't going to be addressed.
I did find out, at last, how to change the virtual name of the ethernet port,
so that part is solved now. However, even when running

So far, no one besides you has reported or confirmed this problem, so it might
be something unusual with your setup, which KDE developers cannot reproduce.
