Don't confuse the ability to on/off this feature with the ability to configure
it. For example, the Desktop Folder Settings allow you to on/off thumbnails for
some file types, but also there is an option to on/off thumbn

Another option just to disable something that you can choose not to use by
not triggering the key seems clutter for me.
