The problem killing the app was a screen update issue on my Motorola. Killing
did reduce the number of notifications to 8 at first, but it then resumed with
64 for the most recent text alert.

I mentioned the PC reboot to confirm that the problem seems to stem from the
Android side. However I cannot confirm that a restart of the app resets the

For the record, I force-killed the Android app, waited a few minutes, and then
restarted the app -- and it reset the counter. So it is, most likely, purely a
problem on the Android side. I suspect if I turn off Wif
