It may be interesting that I can trigger this issue only if I switch desktop
back and forth via keyboard shortcut. There is no problem if pager widget is
used.

Thank you, I understand. Some kind of protection against buggy clients would be
nice, the session should stay usable at least. I would be pleased even if the
workaround involves kwin restart.
