If I add an attachment to a bug report and mark an existing attachment as
obsolete, will the obsolete attachment be deleted so it is no longer visible
on the bug report?

AFAIK it won't be deleted.
But you file an sysadmin ticket in case

I think that there's a way to indicate that a new patch replaces an existing
one. Then the old one should disappear from the list I think, esp. if the name
is the same.
Best to try, I'd say.
