you're right, that's the functionality I was searching for.
But there is one (important) difference:

the "old" function is used when
a) you use drag an drop
b) use the normal "open file" option (i.e. not the sextante version) -
as you see from the drop down file types list, it contains image file
formats as well

the function "Add Image Layer" from
the main-menu "Layer" is missing since OJ 1.3 (new menu-structure).
This function has some advantages to the sextante-raster-images. The
biggest for me is the
availability of the "Change Styles"-dialog via layer-context-menu with
the opportunity to
