.asc and .felt can have a .prj file. Regarding raster I also found
something similar (file.jpg -》file.jpg.prj)

as far as I recall its only shapefile ;) There aren't many other
standard vector formats.
Interestingly QGIS creates sometimes in parallel a *.qpj file, not
touching the original one.
