thank you, for your answer. I found my problem... I have a function in
beforeRender of AppController from CakePHP
where I load the layout. This disable my Ajax Layout in the function
of the called controller.

should be just fine, the type of tab is detected automatically. Unless
you're using a very, very old version of Tabs.
