I am writing a drag and drop day-planner application.
I have got it working as I want but it is very very slow. this seems
to be due to the sheer number of draggable and dropable elements on
the page (when I delete them all but a handfull, everything speeds up
to a reasonable speed).
Since this post, I have mamaged to make some headway.

I wonder if anyone would care to comment on the way I have done it,
and suggest any improvements. It seems to work very nicely, with a few
occasional oddities that I haven't ironed out yet.

First post, taking my first leap into jQuery, bought some books!
What I am aiming to achive is a drag and drop interface for a calendar
(the
fact it is for a calendar is pretty irrelevant actually). So I have a
number
of items in a list (places) and I would like to be able to drag these
