however if anyone has used the Xvnc Jenkins plugin on a mac server then they
would have had similar issues.

I don't want to be rude, but wouldn't you get better help somewhere else? It
doesn't seem like your problem is any way related to Jenkins.

vncserver to run, however this lead to more issues
vncserver looks like a script that calls Xvnc program, so I have made a copy
of vncserver then made some alterations to help get around the _appserver

You have to install 'vncserver' program first.
