The problem with herbal cures is that no one is regulating the
manufacturers for standards in dosage and purity, but the manufacturers
themselves. Tablets of St. John's Wort can vary in effectiveness between
brands and batchs, while 20mg of prozac will always have the same dosage
of active drug.
Prozac can have some serious side effects and drug interactions (just like
any other medication). They are pretty much serious when they tell you not
to drink alcohol, for example, and I'm not certain if they ever ruled it
safe for pregnant or nursing women. :) There are people who -do- worry
