The behavior I like is in No Gnus (CVS), so yes, it is.. I first
started using Gnus and IMAP a month or two ago, and had trouble

in this case, maybe you'd better ask on the bbdb list[1] (or a general
Emacs newsgroup[2]) instead of the Gnus list.
