When I run imtest as user cyrus I get the following error:
$ imtest -m login -p imap localhost
C: C01 CAPABILITY
S: * OK somehost.some.domain Cyrus IMAP4 v2.0.16 server ready
S: * CAPABILITY IMAP4 IMAP4rev1 ACL QUOTA LITERAL+ NAMESPACE UIDPLUS ID
NO_ATOMIC_RENAME UNSELECT MULTIAPPEND SORT THREAD=

You can try it.
go to $CYRUS_SOURCE_DIR/perl/imap
perl Makefile.PL
make
make install

AIX 4.3.3. If anyone is
running or has attempted to run cyrus version 2 on AIX, irrespective of
the size of their user population, I am very eager to hear from them.

these in parallel, we can generate sufficient load to expose
any problems. Thats the plan before going live.

I know of the cyrus-sasl list, but I am assuming the focus there would be
on sasl development.

I see a file named cyrus.squat.tmp in the user's mail store.

lmtpd -a on the backends. I had
done some testing with "lmtpd -a" to allow only localhost to connect to
the "localhost:lmtp" port via TCP socket. lmtpd was not open to the
world:)
