It could be that if you are using BerkeleyDB for deliver.db then the
system is running out of locks or resources. This could cause lmtpd
processes to
Hello,
We're experiencing problems on our mail server since we upgraded it. Our
former server ran Cyrus 2.2 on a RedHat 3 box. An instance of Exim was
used to receive mails and transmit them to the lmtp process of cyrus.
Everything worked fine with this configuration. We changed our server

This is an update on progress with diagnosing my problem with LMTP/IMAP hanging.
I have found that reconstruct hangs when it tries to get a mailbox lock for a
cyrus.header file. I find this odd because the problem is not cleared by
shutting down and restarting cyrus!
I will now look at the loc

I have Exim using LMTP to deliver into Cyrus version 2.2.8 on a single server.
The setup has been working without problem for several years.
I have discovered several users where Exim gets an LMTP timeout when trying to
deliver to them. If any of the users try to login an IMAP session it hangs
Hello,
That's an Exim complaint. The receiver didn't respond within Exim's
time limit. The default is 5 minutes, you can change it with the
"timeout" option on the transport (the one you've called
mailbox_lmtpunix).
is there a timeout at lmtpd or will it deliver a message no matter how

Hello,
right now I'm receiving a lot of lines like this in my exim log:
