I'm getting an interesting log message on my cyrus frontends (v2.2.12)

Cyrus is not just "being picky" here. The IMAP RFC is very clear
about not accepting or transmitting the NUL character. See
Hello,
traced the packets with Ethereal and it gives some valuable hints as to
where the problem lies. (Attachments contain fragments from start of

client requires lengthy access rights clarification for each mail folder

Yes, ptloader dies in both.
In 2.2.12 I run ptloader with this compile options:
--with-auth=pts --with-pts=ldap --with-ldap=/usr
But I obtain the same results with ptloader diyng and in cyrus.log appears the
same lines.
Thanks...

Because 8 bit characters are not allowed in header lines. You need to look
for the encoded equivalent.

Hi Baltasar,
Come to find out, we had changed some permissions on some folders
and it was causing some problems that caused lmtpd to die. We reset
those permissions and it seems happier again. Thanks for your
information, I found it very useful.

However, it may also depend on the way cyrus-imapd is stopped by the
system. At least on RedHat/Fedora, the function used by the init scripts
send a TERM to the master, and if it doesn't die for some time, it sends
KILL which _could_ result in corrupt ondisk data if I understand it
correctly. Mayb
