Back in 4.0.x, the "Empty Trash" icon would empty the trash, push a "the trash has been emptied" message into the notification stack, and then return you to the mailbox from which you invoked that action. I think starting in 4.1.x, it would leave you in the trash mailbox, showing you that it wa
