if you want you can start your own linux group for lucknow.
but fragementing a group untill you have substantial membership is not
advisable.
check your modem linux does not support internal modem

About the modem can you tell me the chipset and product ID.(like motorola
etc..)

X4 developers do not include Sis 6215C because its obsolete.
Solution for Sis 6215C

Step1. Configure the SiS card as if it were supported by skipping
all tests using Xconfigurator.
Step2. Manually changing the driver from "sis" to "vesa" in
/etc/X11/XF
