yahoo doesnt support pop3 anymore, hotmail never did.
though for yahoo there is something called yahooPO

Presently Yahoo.com does offer POP service, but it is not free, you have to subscribe to it. Another option is that you can download YAHOOPOP software from http://www.sourceforge.net This software emulates POP interface and creates the virtual POP server which Kmail can use.
