I do not understand the question. To localise any application, you have to
mark the strings for translation, collect the strings into a .pot file using
gettext, translate
Have u tried Ubuntu 8.10 ? If not pls try it.
Iam also using Compaq laptop & iam fine with Ubuntu 8.10

the module was loaded. I had seen the /var/log/messages but complete log
messages were not available after rebooting the PC. As in windows the
