I just updated my CentOS 7.3 test server to the latest kernel version
3.10.0-514.26.2.el7, and now the icinga2 service starts fine - without the
workaround.

This is probably a problem with the centos security glibc fix. See
https://github.com/Icinga/icinga2/issues/5367 for details and a workaround.
