Hi Linda,
When I have been requested to provide that information, I have used the IBM Z
Software Asset Management ( aka iZSAM ) software product, which was previously
known as IBM Tivoli Asset Discovery for z/OS ( aka TADz ).

Has anyone installed the CA-Broadcom Mainframe Essentials software product?
If so, any thoughts on its value?

Hi Jacky,
We encountered a problem with AF/Operator that started the first week of 2021
that appears similar to your problem. We found that the following IBM
AF/Operator APAR/PTF solved our problem: OA60699/UJ04721.

I have a question or two for the group.
Does anyone still use the ASAP (Automatic Software Alert Process) "application"
of IBM Servicelink? My reason for asking...it appears (is) broke. The last
Email I received from the ASAP application was on April 21,2020. I did not

The 3890 Document Processor (Check Reader/Sorter) was a buffered device that
removed the issues of "timing" that existed with the 1419 Magnetic Character.
The "sky code" was actually the Stacker Control Instructions ( or SCI ) which
were downloaded from the MVS or DOS/VS (E) host into the 3890
ss case to justify the VM component
of CA-MIA. I don't recall how a VSE guest would gain access to a tape drive
when running under VM with the VM component of CA-MIA. I know we discussed
that requirement with CA, I just recall their answer.
Hope this helps
I was told that CA-SORT was designed by someone named Max, I don't recall his
last name. In late 1978, development of CA-SORT for DOS/VS(E) was transferred
to the USA from a couple of folks in Germany.
When the software development group was transferred from Danbury, CT to

Hi Jake,
I just noticed on my z/OS 2.2 system that there are some additional lines of
output that were added to the message IGD002I in response to the D
SMS,SG(storage_group) command. CA-OPS/MVS should be able to issue that command
and parse the IGD002I message output.

Hi Skip,
One possible option for the survivability of a 24x7 z/OS environment would be
to place the Primary DASD Control Unit(s) at a different site ( a 3rd site )
from the Mainframe CEC's. Then, if one or the other Mainframe CEC "glass house"
is unusable, the other ( in theory ) continues to op
well its the
ICKDSF INIT command, which is somewhat destructive, so say the least. I would
have felt more comfortable to have that function of the somewhat "less
destructive" ICKDSF commands, like INSPECT or TRKFMT.

We have encountered an issue with the SRD function of ServiceLink. I submitted
a request for a PTF on Sunday moring, February 26, 2017 and as of a few minutes
ago, the SRD order is still in Submitted status. We have opened a PMR ( that's
a whole different issue ) and we are being told the "probl
Many years ago I worked for a service bureau that supported many banks. You
would be surprised how different 30 banks from the same state ( and the same
'region' ) can or want to be. Given the quantity of banking applications this
service bureau provided, there was no way we could 'hard code' in
systems?
Did anyone else receive the IEA032E messages or did you perform the leap second
adjustment ahead of the leap second occurrence?
