(or wherever your local state directory is) when running ./configure

The workflow I'd suggest is:
1. `git clone https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/guix.git`
`git checkout -B custom-branch`

I don't have an answer, but for what it's worth I've recently moved
uglify-js to a different module. This probably has to do with your issue.
