I've had this exact problem and do not know how to fix it. It has caused me to stop using file editing all together and even templates. Since any file that has sections cannot be counted on to be sane after cf-agent runs. On Tue, Jan 11, 2011 at 5:45 AM, wrote: > The following syntax should wor

Hi, I'm running cfengine 3.0.5p1 I would like to add a line to the /etc/passwd file. However, the file has a netgroup entry at the end so I would like to insert the line directly before it. I have an /etc/passwd file that ends like this: .. blah:x:1000:1000::/home/blah:/bin/bash +...

I've run into this too.. and removing the purge option fixed it for me. I'm not sure what the solution is, but it seems that we need another check before a purge is actually done. I don't know what that would be though, since I suspect that having the client send a list of files to be purged to th

default argument in body?

2010-02-04 Thread Bryan Ramirez
Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to set a default argument for a body in cf3. For example, I have something like this that I use everywhere: body copy_from copyfrommaster(path) { ... } I would like to add the option of turning on purge since I now need it in one spot. However, I don't wa

Well, a simple hack would be to create a file with a list of all the files managed by cfengine (e.g. /etc/cfengine_files). It would be somewhat of a pain to make sure your cfengine rules always add to this file, or that you properly keep it updated, but it would work. -Bryan On Mon, 1 Feb 2010,

Here's a very simple example of something that looks like it should work and doesn't. My question is should I find a different way of doing this, or should this work? This will just put "server 10.90.34.15" into the file, but not the other line. bundle agent ntp { vars: "ntpserver

Virtual interfaces

2009-12-08 Thread Bryan Ramirez
Hi, I'm running cfengine 3.0.2 on Redhat Linux (4.4 thru 5.3). Some of our servers have a large number of virtual interfaces (between 300 and 1200). I'm finding that cf-agent can take anywhere between 15 to 40 minutes to run on these hosts depending on how many virtual interfaces are on the machi
