What is the purpose of failsafe.cf? Is it not to bring the cache, policy and
binary, into a good working stat

I'm not sure what you mean. promises.cf is in place, but cfengine will not
read it unless cf-promises is in /var/

I've been using the perzl version for about a year, the binaries work fine. You
just need to code your policy

I just tried to build 3.2.3 with gcc by hand (not with rpmbuild). configure
finishes, but the build itself fairs
