First, you can avoid the wait (which is cf-agent's default ifelapsed period
between consecutive evaluations of the same

I'm skeptical of your claim that the first bundle in your post always edits. I
would expect the agent to build in the file

I'm looking to create a promise that sets up name resolution on my systems; in
particular, managing the /etc/resolv.conf file.

We mount /usr/local via NFS. Since we restrict writes as root to a small set
of machines, neither symlinks nor file copy really work
Why not use $(sys.host) or one of the other sys. standard variables?
exec result, of course, works fine in the newest version of CFEngine.
What makes you think it doesn't?
