lately I decided to try, try, try again to obtain characters from the Zapf
Dingbats font.
The documentation GROFF_DIFF(7) suggests that I should be able to inject a

When I inject that sequence, I get the British S
I’m trying to determine whether or not psfig can be used with groff.
Pretty much all of the back and forth about groff is a decade old, and
doesn’t really answer the simple question of whether groff supports
psfig.
I see that James Clark mentions that psfig is not being supported
going forward,

Given that dpost is (apparently) a reflection of a LaserWriter II,
