Michele, thanks for demonstrating the values of Mozilla so clearly in this
thread: making a proposal to reach out to more people, taking feedback from
a range of passionate people, adjusting the proposal into a better one that
respects choice and choice better than the original proposal. Well done!
+1, thank you very much for clarifying and responding in this fashion.

Thank you again for all the feedback and the additional people that have
reached out to me directly.
The issue we’re trying to address isn’t about tracking users - it’s about our
users getting our email at all. More than half of our audience is using a
web-based email and 90% are receiving HTML
There are a number of isues with these changes aside from the minor typo I
pointed out privately. :)
I have to agree with my compatriots here that there are significant
questions about the purpose and usefulness of these changes, with regards

You did not actually answer anyone’s questions
and taking this off list to privately reach out versus publicly answering
these valid questions is contrary to the working in the open that Mozilla
strives for.
Please address these questions here and work in the open.

Appreciate all the feedback and thank you for the questions.
I'm going to convene a group (heads up I'll be reaching out to a few of you
directly) to discuss the proposed changes in further detail - why it was
recommended, other solutions considered and available communication
options/channels.

Michele,
I do not understand the purpose of this change.
If by feedback loop you mean the ability to track when an email is
opened via beacons or other remote content, removing the text only
option will not help you if the user blocks remote content in email as I

Hi!
Could you elaborate on why removing inactive subscribers is so
important? I'm a little confused by the statement "anyone’s inactivity
influences the delivery of all of our email programs".
Is it a cost issue of sending out so many emails? Or is it that we can't
properly measure the impact of

Howdy friends,
Gunner here, I normally lurk on this list, and I appreciate all the
thoughtful threads that happen here.
As someone who always uses the text only option for emails when
available, for security, privacy and efficiency reasons, I'm concerned
how you are conflating "inactive subscribe
