(tested with both Ubuntu and Fedora containers) tested on RHEL 6.5 host.
No idea as to what caused the initial issue.

One final note,
The issue seems to be still present for Ubuntu 12.04 containers but 12.10,
13.04, 13.10 and 14.04 containers work without a hitch.
